I’m Kim Hruba, founder of Red Shoes Writing Solutions and proud wearer of the red shoes.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with a minor in Dutch language from the University of Minnesota, and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate from Hamline University. My language studies also include Czech, German, and Spanish.
My experience and education give me a unique perspective and insight into the relationship between language and culture. I’ve been fortunate to experience this first hand while living in the Czech Republic, Belgium, and the Netherlands. I currently reside in the United States.
I spent four years teaching English at the Berlitz School of Languages in Brno, Czech Republic and have over ten years of experience doing intercultural communications and cultural adjustment training for student participants for study abroad programs.
Over the last fifteen years, I’ve done a variety of freelance writing including events coverage, feature articles, brochures, editing, grant writing, translation, cover letters, resumes, and editing. My first novel, Elevator Girl, was published in 2014 and am working on publication of my second book, Etiquette Girl.
I’m a member of the Star of the North Toastmasters club and was the 2017 Toastmasters International District 64 Tall Tales champion.
In my free time I knit, participate in a book club, and volunteer in my community.
I look forward to hearing about your projects and providing a solution for your writing needs.
